Why does chemotherapy cause tinnitus?

Chemotherapy can cause tinnitus due to its potential ototoxic effects on the auditory system. Certain chemotherapeutic agents can damage the hair cells in the cochlea, leading to changes in auditory processing and resulting in ringing or other phantom sounds in the ears.
