There might be too many programs opened at the same time or there may not be enough memory in your computer. Or it could be due to viruses, spyware, bad memory, bad drivers, or bad CPU opcodes. If your PC hangs a lot, here are some things to check.

1. Try different memory. If you change memory or remove memory sticks one at a time and the problem stops, then memory is likely the problem.

2. Check the BiOS version and then compare that to the latest BiOS available for that exact motherboard. If not, then check the changelog and see if any of the changes mention stability, opcode fixes, or compatibility. If so, then follow the instructions and flash a newer BiOS version. However, this would be risky if the instability is due to another cause.

3. Replace drivers. If the lockups only happen when attempting to play sound or graphics, then you should try replacing the related drivers.

4. Replace any codec set that is installed. The files might be corrupted.
