MD's are too busy attending to human patients. You can get a prescription from your vet and have it filled at any drug store by the pharmacist. Just tell them the weight of your pet. Vets give in many cases give human medications to animals, but charge more. When I've had a drug that is extremely expensive for my pet, I take it to my pharmacist.
