Why did st Benedict leave rome?

St. Benedict left Rome around the year 500 AD to seek a more ascetic and spiritual life, disillusioned by the moral decay and distractions of urban society. He retreated to a cave in Subiaco, where he lived in solitude and prayer for three years. His experiences there led him to establish a monastic community, ultimately founding the Rule of St. Benedict, which emphasized community life, prayer, and work.
