Amelia Earhart was the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932. She used a Lockheed Vega 5b for this flight. She set out from Newfoundland, and intended to fly to Paris, but bad weather forced her to land in Ireland.

She made other transatlantic flights, both as pilot and as passenger.

She flew solo across the Atlantic in 1932 in her red Vega 5B. She left Harbor Grace, Newfoundland on the morning of May 20. She had intended to go to Paris, but after almost 15 hours of contending with strong icy northern winds, she landed near Derry in Ireland.
