The proper method requires one to destroy or metabolize the drug . You cannot wash contaminates out and anyone or any product selling you on this idea is a fool. The only product that properly does what is needed is "Hair razor", and the amount of treatment depends on the amount of contamination or history in the hair and drug type. "If you have used drugs and have to take a hair follicle test- you will fail. There is nothing you can do to your hair to pass this test. Only not taking drugs will you pass this test."

YES, bleach will work if used properly. The key is a bit of advance warning. Bleaching three times or so will deteriorate the outer cuticle layer of your hair leaving the inner part more vulnerable to being "washed clean". Hair stylists call it "fried" but I say better than "fired"! You have to be very thorough, get everything! Once the cuticle layer has been perforated you can wash your hair daily with any facial cleanser, soap, or shampoo that contains the chemical propylene glycol. What is important here is the chemistry. Propylene glycol a)won't hurt your skin, b)binds with the metabolites of THC in your hair, c)is a base on the pH scale, which means it will cause the cuticle to puff up and open allowing access to the embedded metabolites, and d)washes completely away. Now this only works for THC because that is what the propylene glycol grabs hold of. It is best to allow at least a few days between bleaching sessions if you don't want to fry your hair. Using a 40 volume bleach will work best because it will do the most damage to the cuticle. An additional reason behind why this works is that THC metabolites bind to melanin. Unlike dyeing which is an additive color process, bleaching doesn't add color to your hair, it destroys the color that is already there. Your hair color is caused chiefly by varying levels of, you guessed it!, melanin. This method HAS worked for me in the past. I wouldn't put too much hope in magic shampoos because they only sit on top of your hair. Bleach, however, allows you to get right to the inner shaft which is where you need to be to do any real good.
