Try to eat fewer than 1000 calories a day. You are sure to lose weight.
(That's a step in the right direction if you are a fan of Bulimia)
Its a general rule of thumb that one is to take his or her body weight and multiply it times 10.5 and that gives you a general idea of what calories would suffice.
*In your case 240 lbs x 10.5 = 2520 Kcal
An 130 lb person may well benefit from 1365 Kcal, yet at the same time if that individual is a marathon runner or a sedentary pencil pusher the amount of calories needed can vary.
Due to such unknown factors as your bill of health, activity level and so on... its really not fair to say what is or is not right for you.
*I recommend consulting your local library, health food store or just plain others at the gym that seem to be your age and weight.
Hope this is of further assistance.
**Another general rule of thumb is 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week and eating anything you want in moderation, should help in securing a clean bill of health and normative weight loss.
