How do you change the deck belt?

The method of changing the deck belt will vary wildly with the many available decks, but there are a few common steps.

1: Remove the deck. (not necessary but recommended)

2: Notice the way that the belt is wound around the spindles. Take a picture if necessary.

3: Remove the belt. There will usually be a tensioning pulley that is pulling the belt tight with a spring. Remove the spring and release the pressure to pull the belt off.

4: Buy a new belt. Either find numbers on the belt, measure it, or bring it to a hardware store that can help you find the right size for your deck.

5: Install the new belt. Recall how it wound around each spindle and pulley, and install it. Replace any tensioning springs you might have removed.

6: Reattach the deck and try it out! There shouldn't be any vibrations or unusual noise.
