What small round yellow fruit grows in Florida - It smells like bubble gum is filled with small brown seeds and it grows on a thorny bush. I found it in the woods in Central Florida near a lake?

Could it be a pomegranate?

It might be a paw-paw. This is a wild fruit and was much prized during the 1800's.
