Does Australia have any tarantula spiders?

Yes. Australia does have tarantulas. They are also commonly known as Whistling Spiders, Barking spiders and Bird-eating spiders.

The tarantulas of Australia belong to four genera:

• Selenocosmia
• Selenotholus
• Selenotypus
• Phlogiellus

They are all in the family Theraphosidae.
