How do you learn to love your curly hair?

For some reason people tend to want what they don't have. People with big feet want smaller feet. People without money want money. People with small boobs want bigger and sometimes big-boobed people want smaller boobs. People with short legs want long legs, and people with short torso (long legs) want a longer torso (shorter legs) and curly hair vs. straight hair... etc

Curly hair, in my opinion is incredibly beautiful! I think it's easier to straighten curly hair than curl straight hair. The foundation for beautiful curly hair is moisture. Curly hair tends to be dryer because of the spiral shape of the shaft impeding the distribution of the natural oils from the scalp. Moisture, however does not necessarily mean heavy and weighed down hair. That is a common mistake for curly haired people: weighed down hair.

I personally prefer using salon quality hair products because they seem to work better, however a bottle of shampoo, in my opinion, should not cost $25 (ie: Bumble & Bumble, although some people swear by it). I found Redken's Fresh Curls to be the best bang for the buck. It's about $13-$14 per bottle. It works well and smells great.

For everyday, a nice leave in conditioner, or moisturizing curl definer works well. I like Curlz Rocks by Catwalk (TIGI) and Spin control by Redken's Freshcurls. For everyday, try to avoid hair spray or mousse, because it'll dry out your locks. Hairspray and mousse can be more helpful for special occasions where a style needs to be protected by humidity and needs to last a long time.

Finding a great hair style will make A WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE. I think layers for curls works best because if your hair is all one length it'll make your hair look frizzy and like a block on your head.....so unflattering.

Curly hair is GORGEOUS. For women it's romanic and feminine. For men it's pretty darn sexy, especially if he grows it out a little (not like Carrot Top), but if you pulled the curl straight and it measures around 3" or so....sexy...a little hair wax to control the curl and it's sexy and manly. Avoid the mop top....that goes for everyone.
