Starts out at about $20 per hour, but one must have not only an A&P license, but several years experience on various aircraft as well before being hired. After 10+ years, some mechanics have topped out at $43 per hour, which comes out to just under $100,000 per year. They have to work in all kinds of weather, which means many have suffered from frost bite or even lightening strikes. Most work nightshift, and when first starting, must be available to work in any area of the country that company wishes (which may vary, week to week).
