While this is a very rare condition, it is indeed possible to kill your baby by applying too much baby oil. You see, as humans we all have very small holes in our skin called pores and infamous for the location of pimples. As infants, our lungs aren't large enough to support all the growing and developing cells like a well developed adult can. The baby makes up for the lack of oxygen provided by the lungs by opening up it's pores to almost twice their normal size and taking in air directly into their skin called epidermal-respiration. If a baby is preforming epidermal-respiration due to the inefficiencies of their lungs and somehow their skin is covered with something that blocks the air from getting in, such as baby oil, the baby can in fact suffocate over time.
