Is your Fredrick Remington painting original and how do you tell?

from an artist: tilt the painting sideways in the light. Are there definite variations in the surface, like brush strokes and places where the paint is thicker than others? If so, it is probably authentic unless someone used the artist's name. If the canvas is perfectly flat with no texture to speek of it is most likely a print.
