Why are some health care providers hesitant to support CAM or even to discuss it with patients?

Many, if not most, health care providers believe that Complementary and Alternative Medine (CAM) is ineffective and possibly dangerous, and that there is no science that backs up the safety and effectiveness of at least some types of alternative choices, such as herbs and in some cases chiropractors and acupuncture. They believe pharma medicines are science-based and effective. They also believe that using CAM instead of proper medicine can kill people who have conditions or diseases that can easily be preventable or treated, which can be true in many, but not all cases.
