Does a business need a license to have a DJ play?

There is not a universal answer for this question. Depending in the jurisdiction in which the business is in, you must check with your local town or city agency which might be involved in issuing permits for such events - especially your local Fire Marshall's Office which may be concerned about the capacity limitations and fire exits of the building.
