If you owe IRS how long will they hold your remaining refund check?

The IRS would probably hold your check anywhere from 2 1/2-3 weeks. I know, it sucks but everyone knows that the IRS just HAS to have their money to.

if you owe the IRS or other governments, then you don't get a refund. You owe.

If you owe them less (after including all the penalties and interest , etc you owe on what you owed) than you had coming as a refund, they will keep what you owe and pay the rest in a slight delay (depending on many things including time of year, say 4 weeks extra) past what normal processing would be.
