How do you help someone who has a chemical alcohol dependency?

Get them to AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous). They know more about helping addicts than well-meaning friends, desperate family, or school-trained professionals do. Alcoholics will only get help when they are ready. You cannot force an alcoholic to get rehabilitated.
