A lot of the reason for this overflow may be the temperature of where your pre-installed battery was stored and that of its final home inside your car. As you may know, water expands when it gets warm, so this may result in an overflow. You should be able to correct levels by adding distilled water until the water level is about 1/8 of an inch above the cells. Avoid using tap water whenever possible.
