Cleo, often referring to Cleopatra VII, the last Pharaoh of ancient Egypt, died in 30 BC. Her death is widely believed to have been a suicide, possibly by snake bite, following the defeat of her forces and the capture of her kingdom by Octavian (later Augustus Caesar). Faced with the loss of her power and the impending Roman domination, Cleopatra chose to end her life rather than be paraded as a captive. Her death marked the end of the Ptolemaic rule in Egypt and the transition of Egypt into a Roman province.
