What do the Volturi do when they figure out Bella isn't a vampire?

In New Moon, when they hear Bella knows of Vampires,

of course Aro wants her dead or immortal.

Edward DOES NOT want her dead,

But nor immortal...

So Aro orders Felix to bite her then and there.

Edward battles him fiercely. Felix almost kills Edward.

But Aro tells him no.

Aro gets so close to biting Bella...

But Alice, saving Edward's butt,

says 'the date is set'

And so Caius orders she must follow through on her promise.

Then they find that Bella is a vampire in Breaking Dawn with Renesmee.
