Why are the sodomites in cantos XV and XVI of the Inferno being punished and why do Dante and Virgil exhibit an unusual attitude toward them?

Obvious! The Sodomites are Homosexuals and are considered violent against Nature. It is Nature to be Heterosexual than Homosexual. One of them is Ser Brunetto Latino who was a really well respected man and inspired Dante.
