There are many symptoms you can detect if your bearded dragon is unhealthy. If it has crust around the eyes and nose, if you can see their bone outline you should definitely know it's lacking nutrition and you need to feed him with high nutrition supplements such as dusting his food daily with calcium powder and giving him dark veggies every day along with one serving of crickets. I don't recommend romaine because it mostly contains water which does not contain high value nutrition. If he doesn't eat at all for a long period of time, take him to the doctor to find out what's wrong. Also, if you see mites which are tiny bugs that hide on your dragon mostly in the armpit, leg, and behind the head area, get mite spray you can get form pet shops and follow the directions. If you don't seem to spot any after a couple of weeks to a month, completely clean out his cage with new bedding and if he has many dishes and rocks you don't want to get rid of, take a large pot and boil then for about fifteen minutes. Don't worry, mites don't like humans because they don't have any where to hide, so wash your hands after every holding to be safe. (If your bearded dragon doesn't seem like it's self, bring him to a check up at the vet just to make sure.) :)
