How do you remove excess grout and haze from slate tile?

Mix a solution of 1 part water and 1 part 5% white vinegar. Apply with a soft cotton cloth. Then rinse with clean water. If that doesn't work, slowly increase the ratio of vinegar to water. Straight vinegar will take it off, but it may pit the unpolished porcelain.
