In "Clash of the Titans," Cassiopeia is the queen of Ethiopia and the mother of Andromeda. She is known for her beauty and pride, boasting that her daughter is more beautiful than the sea nymphs, the Nereids. This arrogance angers the sea god Poseidon, who sends a sea monster to ravage the kingdom as punishment. To appease Poseidon, Cassiopeia and her husband, King Cepheus, are forced to sacrifice Andromeda, leading to the central conflict of the story.
