Is the word standout one word?

That depends on how it's used. For example, in the following sentence:

"She helped her boyfriend break out of jail", it's two Words because "break" is used as a verb.

But in this next sentence:

"The prisoners planned a breakout before dawn", it's one Word because "breakout" is used as a noun.
