Did Women play a prominent role in the Abolition movement?

Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin, a fictional novel about a slave that is killed by his master. That book made many of the people who read it, extremely unhappy and they wanted to abolish slavery in the USA.
