In Pokemon Gold how do you get Charizard?

Charizard is the third evolutionary form of the first generation Pokemon Charmander. In Pokemon Gold, the player does not encounter any of the Kanto starters (including Charmander) naturally in-game. To get a Charizard in Pokemon Gold, the player would have to trade one over from a first generation game.
