A turbofan jet engine works by drawing in air through a large fan at the front of the engine. This air is split into two streams: one passes through the engine core, where it is compressed, mixed with fuel, and ignited, producing high-speed exhaust gases. The second stream bypasses the core and is accelerated by the fan, providing additional thrust. This combination of high-speed exhaust and bypass air allows turbofan engines to achieve greater efficiency and quieter operation compared to pure turbojet engines.
