Can snakes be found in England?

Britain's only native venomous snake is the adder (Vipera berus)

• its natural habitat extends across the whole of Great Britain.

Most specimens are found towards the south of the island - where it's slightly warmer, however - there have been sightings as far north as Edinburgh and beyond !
