Why did violet kill herself in the westing game?

Violet Westing was Sam Westing's daughter, who killed herself before her wedding. She was going to marry George Theodorakis. Angela Wexler is another charter. The only reason I bring this up is because they are very similar. Exp.: They both didn't want to marry the man there mothers picked for them, they both TRIED to kill themselves (Violet managed to).
