Name the artist who painted the mona Lisa?

Leonardo da vinci painted "La Gioconda" and everybody has been calling it The Mona Lisa ever since.

The fact is that her name was Lisa Gherardini, Monna or Mona means Mrs.

La Gioconda refers to the fact that her husband's name was Giocondo.

So both names are correct.
