How did the crocodile survive the death of the dinosaurs?

Crabs scavenge for all sorts of organic debris; perhaps they did very well, eating the corpses of dead dinosaurs. In any event, we can only speculate about the details. It's hard to know precisely what happened 65 million years ago.
