Why is Mackenzie important in Dork Diaries?

Mackenzie is important in Dork Diaries because in every book there has to be a rival that is better than the main character. It makes the book more interesting, and gives the book more suspense. I mean, what would the book be like without Mackenzie in it? Yeah, that's what I thought.
