Why is leather attractive?

I think that ladies think that leather, e.g a leather jacket is attractive because that in ancient times, the succesfull hunters, the alpha males, would be the ones who got the leather from the hunted animals and they would be the ones to wear it as a trophy. The succesfull hunter would, of course also be the ones most likely to be able to provide for a family, which is why the women who liked leather would have offspring that would live, and the women who did not like leather would have offspring that would die.
