they're cold blooded

Even though snakes are cold blooded, they require warmth, that's why in the winter they burrow to avoid extreme cold and come out during summer temperatures, usually they bask in the sun, or they stay under objects that retain heat and provide moisture, all snakes need to have some sort of warmth or they would just end up freezing to death.
