No. Komodo dragons are found on the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Flores, Rinca, Gili Motang, Owadi and Samiin. There are no deserts on these islands.

The natural habitat of the Komodo dragon ranges from among the rocks in open, bushy lowlands, to dense forest and tropical rainforest areas found on the volcanic slopes of the islands where they live. They require plenty of trees for the protection of their young.
