A depot tablet is made of layers, so when you swallow it, it will desolve over many hours, because it desolves one layer at a time. Usually for patients that wish to take tablets once a day instead of maybe three times. example: Diclofenac (painkillers) 50mg twice or three timea a day. If you take the 75 mg depottablet you dont need more than one a day. In this case it is an advantage, because the Diclofenac can irritate your stomach and give you a heartburn. Taking the depottablet prevents that. Suzana M
