With reference to paraphrasing, all you need to do is restate the sentence in your own works. You can use simpler synonyms for difficult Words, and explain concepts that may be hard for readers to grasp.

Example:

a) Much of the history of the 18th and 19th century is extricably linked to the pursuit of intercontinental mercantilism, especially the advent of the British Empire.

b) From 1700 to 1900, England and other countries profited from having colonies in many places around the world.
