When did livingstone disappear?

David Livingstone disappeared from public view in Africa in 1866 while he was exploring the interior of the continent. His absence sparked concern, leading to an expedition led by journalist Henry Morton Stanley to find him. Stanley famously located Livingstone in the town of Ujiji on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in 1871, greeting him with the iconic Words, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"
