Why can't scout change into her clothes on the way home?

Scout can't change into her clothes on the way home because she couldn't get out of her "ham" costume. Assuming you're talking about "To Kill a Mocking Bird", of course.

Scout might've also lost her clothes in the school, or forgotten them somewhere.
