Definition of to cancel

To cancel a television series means to not continue airing it, so that it isn't shown on television anymore. Luckily, cancelled television shows can be brought back if the company who shows it realise it has a large number of fans. They can see this from the DVD sales of the television series - if they're very high, the company will know the television series has a large amount of fans. And that's exactly what happened to Family Guy.
