You can give pepcid AC to dogs. The typical dose for this medication is 2.5 mg per every 15 pounds. You can give this medication by mouth every 24 hours for upset stomachs or vomiting.

If it's stomach issues, then in addition to the pepcid try feeding him or her a bland diet. It is recommended that he or she would be to feed some boiled ground beef or boiled chicken breasts with cooked rice. Two parts rice to one part meat. Feed this until he or she is back to normal. This is very easy for him or her to digest and should help reduce inflammation in the stomach/intestines. If he or she will not eat this you could try cottage cheese or a scrambled egg also.

If he or she does start to have any vomiting or diarhea or does not seem to want to eat anything then a visit to the vet may be better to give him or her some stronger medications.

As for cats...Typically use 10 mg tablets and give 1/4 of a tablet. If the extra strength is 20 mg, then I would try to get regular strength. The medication is Famotidine and we use the same one that is available over the counter for people. The actual dose is 0.25 mg/lb every 12-24 hours, but this usually turns out to be 2.5 mg or 1/4 of a 10 mg tab.
