How do you make safari on ipod touch unfreeze?

this happened to me once, so i hold down the power button for 10 seconds and it said slide to power on the top so i did that my screen turned black then you hold it again for the same time and your apps will be refreshed including the safari app so it will work instead of being frozen still.
