You can jump rope with one rope by yourself. You can have two people hold a long rope on either, turning it while you jump.
There is also a type called Double Dutch, where two people hold two ropes, one end in each hand. They turn the ropes in opposite directions so for example: if I'm turning one rope in my left hand clockwise, then I turn the rope in my other hand counter clockwise. Not at the same time though. I'd start turning with my left hand, then move in with my right in order to create rhythm. Double Dutching is a bit fast paced and takes a lot of practice.
