What is the effect of paradox?

Using paradox in so many ways like in literature is hype right now so they can get a substantial amount of readers to engage in what they can offer them. Usually people don't internalize the effect it brings to the people reading these things, but having paradox allows readers to think beyond what they are usually accustomed to.
