Why did the counter culture decline?

The decline of the counter culture in the late 1970s was influenced by factors such as societal changes, political shifts, and commercialization. Many of the original ideals and movements within the counter culture were co-opted by mainstream society, and some members became disillusioned with the lack of sustained social change.
