Can you mix dry jello with cool whip?

There is a recipe for this on most Jell-O boxes now.

Boil 1 1/2c water (or fruit juice, or any non-dairy liquid really), dissolve the Jell-o, and then mix in a tub of thawed Cool Whip.

The result is an interesting mousse-like concoction. My roommates and I generally like it in either cherry or strawberry.
