Why do people hate James from The Twilight Saga?

James is one of the first 'bad guys' that we meet in the Twilight Saga. His character is written to be fairly hate-able because he has set out to destroy/cause serious harm to the main character of the book.

People hate James for that reason in addition to the fact that it's just their opinion which is severely 'biased' because of how the story is written.
