If you're doing Believeing in God GCSE for RE, I collected some reasons. The D question I have is: 'Religious programmes on tv or radio encourage you to believe in God'
In your answer you should refer to Roman Catholic Christianity.
(i) Do you agree?
(ii) Give some reasons why some people may disagree with you.
(i) I disagree with the statement that 'Religious Programmes on TV or radio encourage you to believe in God' because: Firstly, I believe media is a bad influence on life today. Young people can often be mislead by modern technology. Also, some religious programmes are only on air to scam people of their money. The presentor/s just want to con people, taking their donated money. If God was real, why would he allow people to misuse the mystery of his existance? Plus, I believe that some Roman Catholic Christianity teachings include some false information. Broadcasting this to millions just makes matters worse.
(ii) Some people may disagree with me because: The main target audience for religious programmes now is for the 'vaguely religious'. These are people who have a vague view on: God, afterlife and they only go to church for rights of passage only. Also, all terrestrial channels are expected to show religious programmes. They contain all sorts of beliefs now, they are not specifically aimed at Christians. Plus, the religious programmes are extremely informative and factual, some may say. The broadcasts are Specifically Religious Programmes and they inform us about world religions, giving us an option to believe in God.
I hope this helps x

My target is only a B, but I love GCSE RE because it asks for my opinions. Not 'read The Bible.' These are NOT my views. I am agnostic Christian and do not believe every statement I wrote. It's just to get me the highest mark possible. Feel free to correct anything or add reasons.
